Middle School Wrestling · HMS Wrestlers Take 4th at Liberty Duals

Last Saturday the HMS 7th and 8th grade wrestlers opened up the season when the “B” team placed 4th out of 8 area teams at the Liberty Duals Tournament.

In the first match the tigers lost a close battle against Ashtabula Braden MS 39-48. Three tigers, Ean Keene, Captain Evan Ramsey, and Nicky Lewis each pinned their opponents while Levin Loomis, Reese Armstrong, Carter Bocker, Landon Armitage, and Nicky Buday all scored points for the team.

Next, the tigers dominated Poland’s “B” Team by a margin of 60-10. Ean Keene, Captain Ramsey, Carson Schultz and Arison Wayt each won by pin.

The tigers kept the momentum beating the host team, Liberty Leopards, in their 3rd match by a score of 48-15. Tigers winning by pin were: Ean Keee, Captain Ramsey, Carson Schultz, Carter Baugher, Nicky Lewis, and Nicky Buday.

When facing the eventual tournament champs, Poland’s A team, the tigers lost several close matches in a row until finally Arison Wayt stopped the team from being swept when he pinned his bulldog opponent.

In the final match, the tiger wrestlers lost another hard fought battle to the Hubbard Eagles. This time it was Evan Ramsey who saved the tigers from being swept without a win. Evan won a thrilling come-from-behind match by first exhausting and then pinning his opponent.

Nicky Lewis was named team BAGUBA for the tournament as he not only went undefeated, 3-0 on the day, but he also won all three of his matches by pin. Please congratulate all of the wrestlers when you see them in the halls today.
