Tigers News · Baseball Beats Mooney 12-3

The Tigers continue to roll in the back half of the season!

On Wednesday, May 8, in Howland’s second match up against Mooney, Vinny Marimpietri got his first win of the season. The final score was 12-3.
Mooney scored two runs in the top of the first inning, but Marimpietri left them scoreless for the rest of his outing. Angelo “ha-ha” Fronzaglio relieved him in the 5th inning and got the tigers out of a bases loaded jam with only one run scored.
Good defense was played behind Marimpietri. In the 4th inning the Tigers were up only 5-2 and the bases were loaded. Marimpietri started an odd double play, a 1-2-3 double play with Jacob Crawford and Jared Mindek. The DP played a crucial role in keeping Mooney on their heels and incapable of making a comeback.
The tigers offense is ALIVE! In the past two games they have racked up 25 hits.. hitting was the missing ingredient to the good pitching and defense Howland has been playing all year, and with the playoff around the corner the bats couldn’t have woken up at a better time.
Austen “Florida” Price is back in the line up and he is hungry for hits. Against Mooney he tallied 2 more hits. He has 4 hits since coming back from Florida.
The Tiger offense looks to continue the hit parade Thursday against Rootstown and Saturday against Champion.
