Tigers News · Baseball Falls to Rootstown

The Tigers lost to Rootstown 8-3.

Howland got off to a quick start by plating two runs in the top of the first inning. Things were looking promising, but Rootstown had offensive plans of their own.

Austen Price started on the mound for Howland, and he completed two innings. In the first inning, Price faced 9 batters, and the Rovers plated 5 runs of their own on 6 hits – 4 of which were doubles. After the second inning, Price was relieved by Joey Perfette.
Perfette did a fantastic job slowing down the bats of the Rovers. Perfette threw 4 innings and let up only 2 runs and 5 hits. It was the walks that led to the only two runs he gave up but, he struck out the side to finish his outing.
Offensively, the Tigers with hits were Tomko (single and an RBI), Manios (single), Perfette (single and an RBI), Kaso (hit the first triple of the season for the Tigers), and Cam Durig had a hard hit ball up the middle for a single.
Overall, on this night, there wasn’t enough offensive power to take down a good Rootstown baseball club.
Howland will finish up the regular season at Champion this Saturday, May 11.
