For the second time this year, the Howland Tigers beat Mooney 11-4. However, this time the stakes were higher with the sectional semi final game on the line.
Frankie Manios shined again with a complete game. Manios threw 102 pitches, let up only 7 hits and only 3 of the 4 runs scored were earned. He ended with three strike outs and only three walked batsmen.
Manios was the rock that held the tigers down to give the Tiger hitters the opportunity stay hot
And HOT they stayed!
Howland finished the game with 14 hits – this is the most hits the club has put together all season.
Hit leaders were Joey Perfette and Luca Massucci, who both had 4 hits on the day and combined for 8 of the 14 hits the Tigers had. Perfette also had 4 RBIs and Massuci had 2 of his own.
Others who got into the hit parade were: Fronzaglio, Manios, Price, Tomko, Kaso, and McCleery.
It was a great start to the post-season for Howland, and they take on the Canfield Cardinals Tuesday night at 7 PM.
